Introducing a true gem from the Russian romantic stable.
Although having said that, I would not necessarily consider these to be truly romantic in style. Rather, they seem to be inspired in the folk tradition, with his aplication of fiddle styles and the use of traditional modes.
The five Novelettes being: 1. Alla Spagnuola, 2. Orientale, 3. Interludium in Modo Antico, 4. Valse, 5. All’ Ungherese.
They lie very comfortably under the fingers, but I should point out that the 1st plahyer does go up somewhat – although nothing exgtreme, if that’s any reassurance. A real winner, methinks. 30 mins. M/A
