Description
Elgar’s cello concerto is a masterpiece, I don’t think anyone could possibly deny. But what you may not know is that the great violist, Lionel Tertis, arranged it for viola, and actually performed it with Elgar conducting. There can be no better endorsement than that!
And now we have our own version for viola quartet – complete in 4 movements. I should stress this is not an arrangement of Tertis’s arrangement, but a totally new score composed from the ground up for viola quartet where all the players have plenty of melodic interest. Wonderful! 25 mins. M/A
