This is the complete work in 7 movements. I thought I’d share the reasoning that led to creating this substantial quartet:
Firstly, I love it and not just because it is a viola-oriented score, but because it is a superb piece of music, sensitively handled to lend an extra dimension to the text. And indeed, it is that which I admire most of all. You could reasonably argue that as music is in truth a universal language, so the gravity of the text has been presented as such. The music has a narrative of its own. The melodies and harmonies are beautiful, and the tessitura lends itself perfectly.
What is also remarkable is the overall feeling of calm, love, peace, and transcendence. It really does take the listener on a remarkable journey. 34 mins. E/M/A
