Schubert – Viola Quartet in A Major



What a scintillating piece of writing. This is Schubert in his element. The music just seems to flow from his pen.

This is an arrangement of his Violin Sonata in A Major, but it lends itself particularly well to a viola quartet where one is able to extend upon the dialogues to allow a four-way exchange that was not evident in the original. It is in four movements: Allegro moderato, Scherzo and Trio, Andantino, and Allegro Vivace. 25 mins. M/A
