Bartók – The Village Dance

This music vividly evokes folk life in old Hungary. It is rhythmic, stomping, wild, bawdy, passionate, abandoned, and enormous fun. All the players have plenty of melodic involvement.

Bartók makes extensive use of the six-note (whole-tone) scale which, because of its augmented fourth, makes it somewhat less string instrument friendly. So it is also quite difficult, and is only really suitable for the advanced player. 9 mins. A
