Presenting the first and longest movement from Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major, a work that has become essential for every violin soloist, and is a perennial favourite with audiences everywhere.  

So it might seem a slightly odd choice to make for any composer/arranger, say, who may be exploring the possibilities for material to adapt for a certain fearsome viola foursome. But strange as it may seem, this actually makes for a very successful and highly virtuosic viola quartet, with all the excitement and passion of the original.
