Handel – Hallelujah for Strings

Handel was the unsurpassed master of the rousing chorus. And of all his works this seems to have become the most recognisable – and not without good reason. One of which we have mad King George III to thank for the tradition of rising from your seat for this song. Quite a good idea, really, because it is a long work to sit through in a freezing cathedral – trust me on this one!

So here is our version where you can mix the instruments to suit numerous combinations:

Part 1 for Violin or Viola

Part 2 for Violin or Viola

Part 3 for Viola

Part 4 for Viola or Cello

All in all, a lot of fun, and not as difficult as you might think. 4 mins. M
