Description

Despite being a violist himself (together with all his other talents), Mozart didn’t actually write any viola duets – although I’m sure he had it on his to-do list but tragically died young before he could get around to it. Nevertheless his violin and viola duos give us some inkling of what we could expect had he done so.

So, 220 years later we have attempted to address the shortfall and this is the result. And putting all modesty aside I have to say we’re pretty proud of them.

This is the first of the two-volume collection of Six Sonatas for Viola Duo. And this is Mozart at this best; evenly matched parts with lots of witty dialogue and counterpoint. 45 mins. M
