Description
From the Waltz King himself. Here’s another great comic opera overture.
However, speaking as a violist I must confess to some lingering antipathy towards the Strauss’ father and son music. To us, an evening of waltzes, polkas, and marches can be very dull if all you get to play are the cha-chas with not a note of melody as far as the eye can see.
But that is all in the past. Oh yeah!
Now you can enjoy all the pleasure with none of the pain in this, our version of the overture for viola quartet. And what a great play it is: wonderful melodies, schmaltz, passion, panache, virtuosity. This work has it all in abundance. 8 mins. M
