Description
John Taverner is one of the foremost English composers of the early 16th Century.
The 3 works: Kyrie, In Nomine, and In Pace, are all adapted from vocal scores that I have translated into the language of the viola. But they still retain the magic of the original. Indeed, you can shut your eyes and let the music transport you to a great cathedral or church in Tudor England.
There is a beguiling and hypnotic quality to the music that lends itself perfectly to the viola quartet. Lovely! 9 mins. E/M
