Presenting the second of Bach’s superb Orchestral Suites in our unique arrangement for 4 violas, or Viola Orchestra if you prefer.
Originally it is scored for solo flute and strings plus harpsichord (optional), and is in all but name a flute concerto. But it follows the same format as his 1st Suite (also available on this website) in that it is a collection of stylized French Dances preceded by a French Overture. Very fashionable at the time.
It is mostly suitable for players of moderate ability upwards, but, as they say, ‘it has its moments’. And like our version of the 1st Suite, parts 1 and 2 can be played on either violin or viola. 22 mins. M/A
