Bach, J. S. – Toccata and Fugue in D Minor



It’s highly unlikely that you won’t have heard this work. In fact it’s almost impossible to escape it, particularly if you are familiar with the musical taste of vampires.

However, putting all that aside, it is a fantastic virtuoso showpiece, originally for organ. It also pops up in Disney’s classic animation, “Fantasia” where Leopold Stokowski conducts his own symphonic arrangement.

So now, for the first time, it has become a virtuoso viola quartet.

The first part is the most technically demanding, but every player has lots of melodic interest. 8 mins. M/A
