Description
Presenting our unique version of this famous and triumphant work arranged for viola quartet.
The original for large orchestra was designed to be performed floating on the river Thames in the Summer of 1717 to entertain King George, and to impress all his courtiers, nobles, and anyone who can get hold of a boat.
It must have been absolutely spectacular. The King was so delighted he asked to hear it another 3 times. From the musicians perspective, well, it was certainly a prestigious gig, and hopefully well paid, but to play it all through 4 times must have been really tough. But it does make a very satisfying viola quartet. The first player has a few slightly tricky moments, but there is lots of interest in all the parts. 30 mins. M
