Description
This is an arrangement of the glorious third movement of Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Symphony.
On the face of it you wouldn’t say Rachmaninoff has much in common with J.S. Bach, but this work is written in a highly linear style where there are layers of melody and counter melody all playing together, creating a majestic rolling wave of sound that sweeps the listener along on a wondrous journey. It is very reminiscent of Bach’s methods where all of the parts are of equal importance and, although the melodies are very slow there is always something else moving. Fascinating, and a joy to play. 13 mins. M
