Arnold Bax, one of the great English late romantics, was mostly known for his large scale symphonic works, of which there are numerous. So it is very refreshing to find a super little work, light hearted and jaunty. It was originally for piano but, well, I couldn’t keep my hands off it, and when you listen to the sound file I hope you’ll agree it makes for a very nice viola quartet. 3 mins. M
