From one of France’s foremost baroque composers, a lovely, colourful, and varied work in seven short sections: Andante, Allegretto, Air tenderment, Allegro, Andantino, Allegro legerement, Vivace. The work begins in D Minor, but shifts into the Major as it progresses.
I have kept the four parts in their traditional roles, where the first player mostly plays the upper line and is therefore slightly harder than the others. Wonderful music, and a joy to play. It would work well both as a solo quartet and larger ensemble. 8 mins. M
