Description
Presenting a substantial work in 5 movements, being inspired by dance melodies from his native Czechoslovakia: Praeludium Pastorale, Polka, Menuett Sousedská, Romanze, Finale Furiant.
This is mature Dvořák at his best. A perfectly balanced suite, originally for orchestra, but distilled into a very satisfying viola quartet.
The 1st part is slightly more difficult than the others, but it all lies very comfortably under the fingers, and all the players have plenty of melodic interest throughout. Truly wonderful! 23 mins. M
