Description
Paganini is the undisputed master of the “Show off” school of violin playing, putting all those notorious squeaks and whistles, so enjoyed by violinists, to creative use. And I must confess that in my search for material to augment our library of viola ensemble music, I have plundered the violin repertoire from time to time.
But not in this particular case. It is indeed an original viola work, and a rather nice one, too.
However, all the pyrotechnics are in the 1st viola part, the remaining players can just sit back a watch them burning off all those calories.
After an atmospheric intro there is a delightfully Neapolitan Theme and Variations. 13 mins. A, E/M
