Description
Originally scored for three trumpets, oboe, timpani and strings, it nevertheless arranges very well as a viola quartet/ensemble. Featuring the famous “Air on the G string”, known as such because a certain violinist, August Wilhelmj, decided for some crazy reason to transpose it down to C major and play it entirely on his G string, and the title stuck – violinists are funny that way one tends to find, but we love them really. Well, mostly.
As with our previous arrangements of Bach’s Orchestral Suites 1 and 2, the first and second players can be either Violin or Viola. I choose Viola! 24 mins. M/A
You can also purchase this work as a complete volume containing all 4 Suites – essential for any viola ensemble collection!
