Description
Parry’s setting of William Blake’s text has, over the years, become the UK’s alternative national anthem. Indeed, King George V, and many others, actually preferred it to “God Save the King”.
The song was adopted (with Parry’s hearty approval) as the anthem for The National Union of Women’s Suffrage. And over the years has likewise been adopted for numerous sporting events and, of course, the Royal Albert Hall Promenade Concerts.
Our version for strings is not only ideal for performance, but can be readily adapted to suit numerous combinations of stringed instruments:
Part 1 for violin and/or viola
Part 2 for violin and/or viola
Part 3 for violin and/or viola
Part 4 for viola and/or cello, and bass
