Description
This sublime work quickly became a perennial concert favourite. However, it started life as, in Fauré’s own words, an inconsequential work for solo piano. He then arranged it for orchestra, followed by the addition of optional chorus and, as it became more and more popular, even including dancers.
So the obvious logical next step would be to arrange it as a viola quartet. Ta Dah!
It is a joy to play, and everyone gets lots of melodic interest. 6 mins. M
